Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club -Live Oak, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Boerne, Texas.
Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club opened its’ doors in 1978, utilizing the original 14,000 square foot ranch home of Ralph E. Fair, Sr., an internationally-known oilman and rancher, as the center of the Club. The home, built in the 1930s, was constructed with native Texas Hill Country river rock and contains about 20,000 square feet of spacious high-ceiling rooms, offering one of the most unique and beautiful club facilities in the Southwest.
With minimal changes to the original historic home, the addition of 8,000 square feet of space, 36-holes of championship golf on the Live Oak and Blackjack Oak courses, and other up-scale amenities forthe Fair Oaks Ranch Community. As the residential community grew into the City of Fair Oaks Ranch (incorporated in 1988), the Club created an oasis for the residents, Members and guests.
Fair Oaks boasts 2 18-hole golf course. They are The Blackjack Oak course and The Live Oak course. Blackjack Oak was designed by Gary Player and Denis Griffith. Live Oak was designed by Gary Player and Ron Kirby.
This club has two eighteen hole courses. Both courses were built on hilly terrain. The tree-lined fairways are narrow and the greens are large. There are several ponds and creeks that come into play throughout these picturesque courses. Both courses offer enjoyable and challenging terrain, however, the BlackJack Course is reputed to be more difficult than the Live Oak Course.

I live in Fair Oaks Ranch, and play the course twice weekly, alternating it with the Blackjack Oaks course. The course is laid out very well, and poses a good challenge to any golfer. It has a good mix of short and long par 4's, and a couple of par 5's that the longer hitters can reach in two. Condition of the course varies greatly with the weather, and we went through a pretty bad dry spell during the past year, which left some of the fairways in very poor condition. Management has recently began a resodding program, and recent rains have brought the fairways back quite well. While this is an older golf course, the greens were completely redone some five or six years ago, and are usually in good condition.

Guest at the club, I like Blackjack better, it rolls more and has fewer houses around it. But this 18 is good shape. If you get invited go, it's fun. Do like the old Fair home that is now the Clubhouse.
